The Consequences of the Internet for Russia's Informational Influence Abroad

This is the webpage of the ERC Consolidator project on The Consequences of the Internet for Russia’s Informational Influence Abroad (RUSINFORM). The six-year project (2019-2025) is affiliated with the Chair of Political Communication with a Focus on Eastern Europe and the Post-Soviet Region at the University of Passau and financed by the European Research Council (ERC).

The project is headed by Principal Investigator Professor Florian Toepfl and will involve five further researchers and several visiting fellows, who will join the project for limited periods of time. It investigates how, and with what consequences, new Internet-based technologies have contributed to the emergence of novel resources, techniques, and processes by which political elites in Moscow can influence media audiences abroad.
